Valtteri Bottas wins GP3 title

Bottas took the title with 4 wins in the last 7 races

The Finn Valtteri Bottas, driving for Lotus ART, has won the 2011 GP3 Series title. He won the Monza feature race from his team mate, and main championship rival, James Calado.

He is already under contract with Williams F1 as test driver, and this means he is very likely to make the step to GP2 next season. But with ART likely to retain Gutierrez and rumours of them wanting Pic as his team mate, the Finn might not remain with the same team.

ART have won both drivers’ and teams’ titles in the history of GP3. With Gutierrez last year and with Bottas this year. As Gutierrez is in his rookie season, the French team may be looking for an experienced driver to challenge for next year’s GP2 championship, therefore they are reluctant to sign another rookie and GP3-graduate.
